Jo Ellen Pellman
Jo Ellen Pellman is a trained stage and film actor and writer based in Brooklyn, New York.
She made her film debut opposite Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman in The Prom (dir. Ryan Murphy, Netflix). Her performance was lauded by the New York Times and earned her the Hollywood Creative Alliance's Rising Star Award. Other credits include: two seasons of 1923 (Paramount+), The Deuce (HBO), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon), and Alternatino (Comedy Central). She recently recorded her first audio drama narration in Sabrina Brier's That Friend (Simon & Schuster).
Her writing and producing work has been supported by NYSCA, the YoungArts Foundation and ArtsKC, and has screened at the Museum of Modern Art. She was awarded the Point Foundation’s Horizon Award for her advocacy work with the LGBTQ+ youth community.
Jo Ellen holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan, with a minor in creative writing. She also studied Shakespeare and classical acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. ​She is from Cincinnati, Ohio.
